In 2001, The 404s started performing in Ontario.

Beginning with Mark as producer and host, there quickly amassed a group of talented local performers, also knicknamed "The Eastside 404s".

But they're 404s, through and through. With egos and everything!

J'suis aussi francophone, t'sais? Mark Nguyen

"Stewardess, what's for supper? Ooh, Chocobos! On a Plane!"

Born in Burlington, Mark was raised a comedian and performer almost from the start. When The 404s expanded to Ontario, Mark led the charge to bring the group's hilarious brand of improv to stages in the East... And soon the seeds bore fruit. And the fruit, it was tasty and tangy. And it made great jam.

In addition to managing the shows in The 404s' home territories, Mark is also seeking to bring professional-quality improv theatre to new events and stages. Standard improv or anime-related, The 404s put on a great show, and we're up for showing you how!

Ha ha, try and grab it! Michael Chindamo

"Don't play with my radio of love. Play with my antenna of love."

The 404s didn't find Mike, Mike found the 404s. In 2004, Mike participated at a 404s show at the local anime convention. Afterwards, Mark walked over and uttered five fateful words: "Hey! You were pretty funny!" While Mark would inevitably forget this comment, Mike didn't. After a year of begging, threats, bribery and one instance involving a goat, he maneuvered his way into becoming a permanent member of the Eastside 404s.

This wannabe comic book writer has only one golden rule when it comes to improv: "Never teach a pig to dance, it wastes your time and annoys the pig." When asked what this has to do with Improv he quickly jumped into a shopping cart and rode off into the sunset proclaiming himself the world's only paintball bandit.

Favorite Games: Every Other Line, Film Noir

No, the OTHER one! J.J. Deogracias

"All that Pocky goodness all over my burning body!"

Although the 404s popped his improv cherry, J.J. is no virgin when he’s in the spotlight. Whether it involves singing in choirs or singing karaoke, whether it involves sporting a really sparkly accessory or strutting in drag, whether it involves making off-the-wall comments or talking about not-so-PG-13 topics, J.J. does it. And he does it well.

And how did the 404s pop the improv cherry of this published author? During one of The 404s’ improv shows at Anime North, J.J. grabbed the audience’s attention when he volunteered for one of the games. For ‘Moving People’, J.J. made the 404s grab each other in not-so-PG-13 ways. After that, he became one of the newest (and most fashionable) members of The 404s.

And now, in SCOTTISH! Aaron Doucet

"Why am I always the mom?"

Aaron Doucet's first taste of Improv was when he was a young boy watching "Whose Line Is It Anyway?". Ever since then, he has wanted to make people laugh. His first experience with The 404s was at Anime North 2004, where he volunteered for two games, and ever since then he has performed with The 404s whenever they came to Toronto.

Aaron is currently attending York University to get a degree in professional writing. When not improvising or working he plays enough video games to kill a small city.

Favorite Games: Movie Director, Film & Theatre Styles, Every Other Line

It's Mario & Luigi Plumbing! Jon Lee

"Glomp...I like fish."

It's good that shame left Jon at an early age, likely during high school. He's had no professional teachings that have lasted longer than a day - but he sponges up what he learns. A performer since 2004, Jon has slowly been getting back into improv, also doing shows with the Bad Dog Company and at the University of Toronto. His true joy however comes from performing before the rabid fangirls and yaoi fans at Anime North!

Why he's considered a long time veteran with tons of experience, he'll never know (he considers himself more of the handy man of talents). He does live like the famed Iron Chef Michiba, in that there are no borders to improv comedy.

Favorite Games: Press Conference, Film Noir, 3-Headed Expert

Jumping off stages is fun! Tim Moffat

"I'd better get my gun..."

Tim is a run of the mill crazy improv performer. At every opportunity he must jump off of SOMETHING and nearly kill somebody. It IS the law. Tim has been involved in improv since high school when his drama teacher got bored and told the class to "make something up". He then got involved in inter-high school competitions, and lately with The 404s at conventions.

Tim has no tact. He does not think before he speaks, and he insults at almost every turn. And sometimes that makes for a simply awesome scene.

Favorite Games: Change, Props, Random Lines

I'm the new guy! Dany Shebab

"Also, poop."

Dany is the foreign hottie of the Eastern division of The 404s. Infused with both Eastern European and Arab blood, he charms the ladies with a shake of the hips and a funny spelling of his name. Unfortunately for him, his affinity for blurting out stupid things without first thinking drives said ladies away – but comes in handy for improv!

Dany's on-stage journey began when he joined swing choir in grade 9 – a late start, but dorky enough to make up for the lost years. He has since terrorized a number of karaoke bars and improv stages, and approaches each show with the same philosophy: "When in doubt, eat cake."

Favorite Games: Change, One Word, Random Lines

When does THAT happen?! Michael Storey

"I never shoulda encouraged those yaoi fangirls..."

In between his never-ending quest of becoming a world famous musician in Japan, Michael picked up the improv bug. His shy, quiet nature outside the game belies the fact he has one of the dirtiest minds out there, a feature quite enjoyed by the rampant yaoi fangirls. Yet he never tires in the hope that one day Mark will host the game drunk enough to try out a singing game.

Favorite Games: Party Quirks, Questions Only, anything with singing
