The 404s are stampeding back to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo on April 25-28 with a whole weekend of unscripted hilarity! Join us for three shows and a workshop, performed by nerds, for nerds!

If you're an Edmontonian interested in learning a little about improv comedy, and the nerdy version that The 404s bring to conventions across Canada, you're invited to join The 404s at the Edmonton Public Library (Strathcona Location) from 4-6pm! We're starting our 2024 season with a bang, and a new show! After several years away, The 404s are happy to announce that we're coming back to the national capital at the new ANIME OTTAWA convention! We got rained out for the June show - the improv gods sent us a sign! But we're nothing if not painfully resilient, and so we're pressing forward with our second take for our first show - this coming Thursday, July 27, starting at 6:15pm. For everyone who missed our last show at Anime North (because of those pesky power problems!), we have a great REPLACEMENT improv show coming this Saturday! We're LIVE in Toronto at the Tranzac Theatre from 8:30pm-10:30pm on Saturday, June 17. $10 at the door or FREE if you show your AN23 pass!

Hoo boy, we had a massive spring season indeed! Armed with new performers and banking on TWENTY YEARS of history, The 404s launched into our first bunch of fandom improv performances - and it was intense! The 404s specialize in fandom improv comedy, and kicked off our landmark 20th anniversary season with three huge convention appearances! First, we dazzled the crowds at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo with a set of comedy shows saluting Super Mario, Dungeons & Dragons, and all the TV & Film productions in Calgary. Then, we returned to Otafest, giving tribute to their own 25th anniversary as we lampooned spy-themed anime, the "isekai" subgenre, and the all-in improvaganza show. And finally, our Toronto cast capped it off at Anime North with shows focused on Pokemon and a giant pastiche of anime shows new and old. Adding in workshops in both Edmonton and Calgary, plus a show back at the Social Capital in Toronto, and you KNOW we had a busy opening filled with improv, nerdity, and laughter. And no, we're not done! Our summer season will have shows in Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto - and that's just what we've announced so far! This summer we'll be having a limited, monthly show in downtown Calgary, that's free for everyone under the sun - literally, because we'll be outdoors. We'll have more to share on those shows in just a few days! Thanks to everyone at our convention appearances and SoCap shows who made them happen, and of course to everyone who attended every performance. You've made our first twenty years incredible, and we look forward to entertaining you for many years to come!

We’re celebrating TWENTY YEARS of improv this year! And the Calgary cast of The 404s are looking for new comedy talent for the years to come. Join us February 12th for an open audition and workshop event! DATE: Sunday, February 12 TIME: 1:30pm PLACE: Brentwood Co-Op - 4122 Brentwood Rd NW, Calgary We are open to all, with a minimum age of 18 being a requirement. No previous improv experience is necessary, but improv training or performance experience is considered an asset. Successful applicants will be invited to join The 404s at planned rehearsals, ahead of expected performances in Calgary on the weekends of April 27 and May 19, 2023, with others TBC. About The 404s Since 2003, The 404s have been entertaining at fandom events in Canada and the United States. We specialize in what we call “nerd-prov”, improvised comedy that is heavily inspired by genre movies, television, comics, anime, and gaming of all kinds. Our principal performances are at comic-cons, anime conventions, and similar events in Canada. We have three casts located in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto (Note: we are only casting for CALGARY at this time). Over the years, we have done shortform improv where the audience inspires brief scenes; longform shows where we present an entire “episode” of a fan-favorite movie, TV show or anime; as well as comedy game shows, “advice” panels, and more. We're currently on break for the rest of the year, but by no means are we slowing down! Next year, The 404s will be celebrating TWENTY YEARS of improv comedy for fans everywhere. In addition to our awesome shows at fandom events around Canada (and who knows where else?), we'll be back and creating laughter like never before. We've also started the hunt for the NEXT generation of The 404s performers. Stay tuned for more info on that, our 2023 shows, and for all the fun we'll have in store. Thanks to our awesome fans, The 404s have made a triumphant return to live shows across the country. From the bottoms of our nerdy hearts to yours, THANK YOU for your support as we weathered the storm of the Covid pandemic. We had changes and setbacks just like every other comedy team... But we've emerged alive, licked our wounds, and mounted a year's worth of comedy shows that brought us back to the fans we love. What will the next year hold for The 404s? Check back here for deets.
